INTO THE BOOK - " THE CATCHER IN THE RYE" by J.D. SALINGER

The Catcher in the Rye has been a recent read, making it to my top favourites. The Catcher in the Rye was first published on the 16th of July 1951, making it indispensable in 20th-century literature. The story involves the ideas of teenage rebellion and the pains of growing up, however, this book can connect with the readers regardless of the differences in the timeline.  The main protagonist Holden Caulfield who is also the narrator describes variegated events happening in his life taking place over two day period. Caulfield is sixteen years old and gets expelled from Pencey prep school in Agerstown, Pennsylvania. Implicit details for the character show that there is an abyss of sadness and constant changes in moods, at the end his feelings cause him to be in tears. There are numerous times in the book where Holden states that he is depressed proving the inner feelings that affect him. The character shows a lack of academic sincerity leading him to fail in classes and get expelled...

LOVE IS BEYOND LOGIC...

LOVE IS BEYOND LOGIC… Love is an intriguing theme discussed by us in our daily life. It is surrounded by us and waiting for people to approach us with their feelings to showcase their support in the form of only one global emotion – LOVE. It could be the love of our friends, family or partners who wish to get attached with us and make our days special and enduring through challenges.  Let’s address the elephant in this article, “ WHY IS LOVE BEYOND LOGIC?”. I am certain there are people who are completely unequivocal about love being “ just scientific and it’s all in our brain”. I agree there is a scientific explanation behind our lust, desire and attraction, but the intention to make others happy and content in all our relationships even through the hard times is beyond logic and pragmatism.  “Love is merely a flow of energy, it connects and transforms us according to our needs and stays in us throughout the function of our life. It can neither be created nor destroyed...

ITS THE JOURNEY THAT MATTERS!

Every individual is different, containing various skills and talents utilised for betterment. The essential factor that differentiates human beings is the experiences had in their lifetime. Individuals with more hardships and worst disappointments reach higher levels of success, for instance- Steve Jobs. You might think this is a radical claim. Let me explain! Success is a destination. The end product of but the process, making of the product is the journey, "Focus on the journey, not the destination" this quotation has been thrown around a lot lately and I completely agree with it.  The end product or the goal is what people desire and focus on.  But most of their time is spent on repetitive processes day in and day out with consistency. Perfecting every nuance along your journey takes you to success. Success is an endpoint it will be spoken from some time and eventually people will forget it, while the journey that you have been through where you have gained numerous e...

DILIGENCE OR INTELLIGENCE ?

Ever wondered if you are an intelligent person or a hard-working one? There's nothing wrong with being either of them. Let me tell you that an intelligent person in simple terms would mean a person who has the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. A diligent person would mean a hard worker. Now, which one are you? Are you the first one or the second one? Let’s analyze both and see which one we should be. Intelligence can be put into numerous ways : the capacity for abstraction, logic, understanding, self-awareness, learning, reasoning, planning, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving etc. Sounds big I know. All of us would think, “ oh you are so lucky to have this much capacity! ”. Well let me tell you one thing, hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. What this means is if you do not put effort or don’t use your capacity, you cannot go further. So use what you have and make the most of it. I’m sure all of us would now have an idea of what a...

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

What is FRIENDSHIP? Friendship is like water flowing incessantly in the river! The movement of water is constant and invariably circulates at its own pace with no regards to the external conditions (changes its speed at times though). Likewise, friendship is a sort of relationship where you challenge obstacles thrown at you like rocks tossed towards the water. Friendship is a term that links numerous qualities like kindness, humility and many other characteristics, but no person has ever defined it properly. Friendship is built on who your friends are ( their identity and character defines your friendship with them) and why they chose you as your friend. Today, I will talk about one of our friends who has swam with us in the same river throughout the years, stayed on the same side of the boat and propelled our boat towards infinity awaiting at the shore. Speaking of the shore reminds me of nature. Well, our dear friend also loves nature. In fact, he is a nature lover. He devotes his ti...

HUMAN EMOTIONS

Some of the most hurtful sensations caused are primarily due to pain. How is pain created? It certainly depends, it can be due to failure, betrayal, losing someone and so on. The feeling of pain is triggered by the release of certain chemicals in the brain such as the hormone epinephrine. With this an array of emotions are created that runs through the body like the random movement of the gas particles, pain actually might not be that hurtful when there are fewer emotions involved. This can also be one of the reasons why betrayal by someone close to you hurts more than physical pain. Pain is just a stimulus like any other that has been felt to prevent humans from getting themselves physically hurt. But I think pain felt varies for everyone and the way they approach it. Sometimes for me pain created due to failure- is like you are getting dragged through a robust concrete pavement that is quite uneven so there are some sharp edges. When your skin comes in contact it slowly started...

DEVISE OR REVISE? WHATS YOUR TAKE

Devise in literal terms means to invent a plan, system, object, etc using your intelligence or imagination. In simple terms, it would mean to come up with something. On the other hand revise means to look at or consider again an idea, piece of writing, etc in order to correct or improve it. So basically making small changes. Having these two rhyming words, we will be exploring the necessity of both when it comes to planning, scheduling, and a few more things. Devise & Revise are both very essential terms when it comes to planning and scheduling. The purpose of plans is to achieve our goals and tasks. But sometimes it doesn’t work out the way we like it. Even when we set a schedule, sometimes it wouldn’t go the way we would want it to. I’m sure all of us have faced this whether it be students or working adults. Our schedule and plans might not work for various reasons: we might have some other commitments coming in or we might not be following it precisely due to many factors....
