The gigantic world in which we are inhabited since the period of humanity, we were accustomed to the changes around us. Changes in our environment, lifestyle and many other aspects has highlighted who we are now! Even now, we are facing a threat which can increase the pollution rate and risk our environment. This danger which originated from man-kind is affecting millions of people globally. It’s PLASTIC and it’s playing a crux part in industries, factories and even our day to day life.
Why is plastic a threat to us?
Plastic is a material which is non-biodegradable and consumes hundreds and thousands of years to decompose. It stays under the ground and diminishes the quality of our soil. It affects the water, land and our air in umpteen amounts of ways.
PROBLEM TO AIR
Plastic has become a huge devastating problem for all of us. Plastic cans, bottles and bags have pervaded across the globe that it’s difficult to restrict the use of it. There are a wide range of problems it causes to our environment, agriculture, and health.
Within our school, we notice plastic-associated materials used and thrown away in the garbage. This surplus amount of plastic garbage is dumped into the garbage dump and becomes congested in the place. The congestion can lead to accumulation of conglomerate materials which can lead to the difficulty of separating the different kinds of waste materials. People who work there often burn the garbage collected to reduce the quantity.
This is where the problems begin!!
Burning plastics can stimulate harmful gases to be released from the waste into our atmosphere and when these dark gases diffuse widely, it is respired by our people. These gases are responsible for the major types of lung diseases and cancers. The air quality is tainted with these detrimental gases and it deteriorates our health.
This type of method is encouraged and followed in numerous developing countries and it must be altered for a better future!
HARM TO THE BLAMELESS CREATURES
There is an alarming rate at which aquatic organisms die due to the ingestion of plastic materials thrown in the water. What harm did the aquatic organisms caused that they receive such detrimental results? It is our fault and human mistakes which has resulted these outcomes!
Nearly, millions of Oliver Ridley turtles consumed and ingested the plastic straws into their nostrils. The plastic straws were fixed and hard to remove from nose. This lead to millions of turtles dying from the ingestion of plastic.
This evokes a crucial alteration in their food web and reduces their effect and contribution towards the food chain. Unfortunately, WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature) had to declare them as endangered species. This has become conventional now as dolphins, fishes and other species face the similar issue too.
Remember, nature is a gift and utilising it in a harmful way can taint the man-kind in unexpected ways.
OUR LAND BELONGS TO PLASTIC NOW
Now, in this modern revolutionising world, people are less worrisome about their surroundings in which they live and focus more on temporary attributes such as money, lifestyle and a lot more! Our surrounding is growing with plastic and one day it’s going to engulf our whole planet. In local and rural towns, throwing of garbage has become a habit for people. During any season, the plastic stays in its place and never changes. This is the most destructive material which can destroy our environment by promoting land and water pollution in every way. Keep in mind that plastic displays more disadvantageous than advantages to our mankind. It’s the feasibility and easy mind-set in which we lose ourselves to the plastic usage.
We can change now to sustainable features or never!
SOLUTION WE NEED
Multiple charities and organisations have continuously promoted the implementation of “Zero Plastic Waste” which bans the use of plastic in household, school and shop purposes. This small step is a journey to a thousand miles for eradicating the utilisation of plastic. It can invigorate our people to select the old-fashioned paper or cloth materials for shopping. Our school has now turned into a Zero Plastic Building which clearly indicates we have banned the use of plastic.
Dumping of plastic into water resources must be reduced at any cost to save our vulnerable unique species from the imminent threat our world faces now.
We as a group of responsible people must step up in our world and initiate changes to our surroundings. The disposal of plastic waste is an urgent threat which mankind faces and it’s our sole duty to act cohesively. Governments, schools and companies must cogently approach the issue and diminish it.
I CAN’T DO ANYTHING BUT WE ALL CAN DO SOMETHING!
