START WITH WHY?? What do you mean by starting with why?
These were the rhetorical questions recurring in my mind before I read this amazing and inspiring book. Sometimes, I was apathetic and mundane about my life goals and I doubted my own process of working. As quoted by Suze Kassem, “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will” and doubt is a symptom of ingenuity.
In this book, the author describes numerous personalities who have reached their highest potential by adhering to their processes and creating a revolution in the world. Simon Sinek; a well-established author and an inspirational speaker describes in his own charismatic words how great leaders inspire action and repeat their success again and again!!
THE IMPACT OF GOLDEN CIRCLE
The golden circle is a practical guide which improves leadership, builds a loyal group and incorporates a vision for people. The author emphasises that our goals must start with “WHY” and not begin with “WHAT”.
WHY - What is your Purpose/Cause/Belief?
HOW - What are your methods?
WHAT- What you do/Outcomes
Biologically, our human brain positioned from top to down correlates accurately with the Golden Circle:
NEOCORTEX - The part of the brain which focuses on rational and analytical thought on language. This corresponds to “WHAT” and is a cause for all our logical decisions.
LIMBIC - A powerful, complicated and intriguing part of the brain which controls our emotions, decision making, and strengthens our human behaviour. All our “gut decisions” are biased, faster and standard decisions. The limbic brain is interlinked with “WHY” because people feel apex of confidence with their gut decisions.
For instance; A teacher always advises students to believe in their first-instinct for a multiple-choice question, to have faith in their gut.
The best example from the book is Martin Luther King Jr. A person who inspired a country to lead a socialist movement without sending invitations, mails or anything. He believed in his purpose and delivered a speech to millions of people who gathered to advocate his belief.
PERSONAL INSPIRATION
Remember your “WHY” because you are running the race of your own life to become better-self and not beat someone else. If you believe your process is the correct pathway, proceed on the journey with inspiration and smile on your face.
“Working hard for something we don't care about is called STRESS
Working hard for something you love is called PASSION”
- Simon Sinek
All the effort won’t matter if you’re not inspired!
