I was ecstatic and thrilled to begin my journey with my friends – Roy and Alice. I was an archaeologist who loved to embark on adventurous explorations and figure out ancient civilisation's lifestyle. I packed all my essential resources and equipment for the trip. My mom looked bothered and asked “How many days is your trip for? Aswin'' I looked at her and responded in a tranquil way “It's just for 3 days mom, don’t worry about me! She was gratified with my stay and I noticed my friends waiting eagerly for me to join the car. I waived my hands with a smile on my face.
We slowly drove the car and reached the harbour. It was massive and the ships appeared gargantuan. We booked a minor ship for five of us including the two sailors to accompany us for the journey ahead. I observed the pitch-dark sky surrounding the ocean and the midnight blue waves of water pacing us towards the island. Roy fell asleep and Alice was half-awake with her eyes blinking at a slow pace. I was reluctant to sleep and observe the transition of moving to a new land, but the fast pace of wind drove me to sleep.
I woke up by hearing to a loud bang on my ears and I saw the wonderful island ahead of me. It was indeed a masterpiece and I could watch the empty lands filled with only hues of flowers, trees and rocks. Roy pointed his hand to a pointer and screamed “Look at maroon flag, someone has visited before”. We reached the shore and confirmed to the sailor that we would leave by tomorrow morning. I saw something strange around the bushes, so I sauntered towards the emerald bushes. Alice and Roy were waited for me rejoin! I was obscure when I heard the sharp noise of branches around me. Alice screamed “Come soon!!”. I turned back towards her to waive my hand and suddenly some strong, unknown force struck me. I was unconscious and found myself in a small cage. I was shocked and gob smacked to see myself in a cage.
I was screaming for help continuously and I could hear the echoes of my voice hurting my own ears. I was caged and locked up! I was sterned and tugging the bars of the rusted cage rapidly to find a way out. I was in a tantrum and the somber atmosphere in the room scared me to death. I was exasperated and occluded from trying to break the cage. I was wondering who put me in this prison. For days, I observed my small hideous analogue watch showing each rotation to me! At the top were white-jagged stones to bleed me if I touch those ever! I had no options to save my life! Millions of thoughts aroused in my mind! “How I reached here”, “What happened with Alice and Roy”, “Is my mom worried and frustrated?” and several others. I was losing control of my body; my muscles grew weaker and my stomach was churning deeply inside. I was trapped in the prison and left with wavering hope!
This abysmal and mysterious journey made me hopeless. I was moving in a circular path round and round till I heard the shattering of doors. I observed an unknown person with a long spear in his hand. I could see the scintillating light of sun rays reaching me from out. The man had ancient tattoos embodied in his body and glanced at me. He wore a majestic crown with diamonds and groaned in an angry tone, “avane vīṭinakattēkk māṟṟuka”. I was uncertain of the command ,but did realise I was thrown like a brick to join other prisoners and I still didn’t find Roy and Alice. The fellow prisoners were petrified, oblivious and threatened by the tribal group. I sat on the bottom corner of the cage and placed my hands in the head. I started to cry loudly and scold myself about my passion for exploration. The thoughts about losing my parents and friends irritated and tainted my mental behaviour. I was forced to work in the woods by the tribal and upholster them their type of food and whatnot. They provided us with a sparse amount of food to digest and more to work.
One morning, I saw the glints of light shining on my face and felt the swift breeze of sand with moist air. It was a helicopter air-strike with full blast and uniformed people yelling spontaneously with frenzieness. The officer stretched his arms to extend the rope ladder and I stood poise-less amongst the rash yelling and incessant cross-firing between the two parties.
The officers jumped out into the cerulean water with a bang and ran towards us to save our lives and secure us from these ruthless and cruel tribal people. The officers rescued all the prisoners from those gladiators and carried us upwards to the helicopter spinning to its apex.
I saw Alice and Roy looking tireless and worrisome at me! I noticed them running towards me and I ran to them with a smile and tears flowing out of my eyes rapidly. I hugged both of them and they shouted together “YOU DUMBASS”.
