In these arduous times of pandemic, our lives have changed in ways which have surprised our own personality and developed a unique system of adaptability towards the conditions encompassing us everyday.
The power of technology in this pandemic has been eminent and backbone for providing all the necessary services and aid to the common people, health workers and moreover the GOVERNMENT.
An Example; In the UK, a start-up AccuRx accommodated almost 75% of government-doctors to provide video consultations during the start of pandemic.
The pioneering of telemedicine apps in pandemic has also limited the number of in-person patients and reduced the stress to our front-line workers.
Now, let’s look at GovTech
What is Govtech and the ideology behind it?
This term “GovTech” is derived from two words - “GOVERNMENT” and “TECHNOLOGY” and it aims to promote innovative technological solutions in digitising the public services. GovTech has a complete approach of technological services in the public sector to provide efficacious and affordable government services. GovTech was created to ensure that Citizens and Government have modernised resources, and strength to solve challenges. As Bill Gates said once, “We are changing the world with technology” and it’s vital for any government in the world to keep up in the race of digitalisation with the private entities.
How are Start-ups related to GovTech
An umpteen amount of tech-startups have evolved during the pandemic and witnessed multiple opportunities to inculcate profits in the business. Startups have led the GovTech in achieving the digital transformation and creation of enhanced public services to the people.
An Example; The StimuLab in Norway is funded by the government and it works primarily to improve the “Information and Communication Technology”. It has promoted public innovation in the years.
Why is the GovTech strategy required?
The implementation of GovTech can create new markets and improve the employment opportunities for people and public servants.
It can provide us with the perfect methods of overcoming the public-sector issues and enhance a rapid response to the challenges.
It can enable the public officials to deliver more secure services remotely.
The GovTech can help create a strong connection between Government and Citizens. It ensures trust between the two groups.
Our Approach
The private sector’s aim is to make profits and endure it, but when the governments play a vital role as a developer, and regulator it can be feasible for even common people to utilise the tools. This can reduce inequality in some areas and promote employment rates as well. The ideology behind GovTech is to produce a positive impact on our economy.
