Traction is getting pulled to something. This is what we want when we are scheduling time for ourselves it draws you towards what you want in life. There is a very common question stating that why do we have to schedule? Firstly, life consists of numerous things that demand your time, you are in control of your time. A person can choose to go with their flow and do whatever comes to their mind, when they are doing that there are high chances that they might get distracted. Because the human brain does not look from the long term perspectives that are comparatively more important than short term goals. What does this mean? Short term goals are mainly instant gratification such as the feeling you get when you receive the text message that you have been waiting for. These might seem fulfilling for few seconds as a consequence of giving in to temptation, all of us fall into the trap of distraction. Which you would have understood by now because it is the opposite of traction, something that moves you away from what you supposed to do.
Deciphering this more lucidly, if you don't plan someone will. When you are starting with scheduling, plan out your values- which are the core ethics that you uphold, these are not the end goals but rather the guidelines that provide a more robust structure to your life. Categorise your life into primarily three domains- you, relationship and work. Start with yourself, because you need your proper life maintenance such as sleep, other activities that you enjoy like reading, working out. Things that turn your crank up. If your able to allocate time for all these and do it, other domains of your life automatically fall into place.
Relationships are an essential part of each one of us as humans are created to be social animals. If someone is important to you or a group of people allocate regular time for them on your calendar. Lack of close friends can have hazardous problems for your health. Some of the negative effects of not maintaining close relationships would include depression, negative self-esteem and high levels of anxiety. This is one of the reasons why COVID took a troll on us.
Work is the third main domain where we spend most of our time. This involves numerous commitments that can be highly demanding, you need to be consistent in sticking to your values and habits. Enjoying your work is the major part of developing more efficiency and productivity, however, we should also need to consider some major factors such as the priority. Are we doing the necessary things? Or we wasting time on things that have less return value? Are we staying consistent and so on. Knowing your priorities allows you to diligently allocate time in work and more importantly prevents you from pseudo-working. Pseudo-working is when you are working on things that may not be your top priority. Coming back to allocation of time, when you analyse the time for every task meticulously who will able to swiftly adapt to the changes that arise unexpectedly. Suddenly you might have a meeting, but this might clash with your workout, in this case with the amount of time allocated for each task needs to be taken into consideration then can be pushed to some other timing available during the day. When you get too serious about work and start to spend an excessive amount of time on it, this can get unhealthy, because your work domain is dominating other domains of your life. By this you might start to lose sleep, have no time for your relationships other essential parts of life will start to suffer.
Taking into consideration, always be actively conscious of how you are spending your time and are you happy with it, don't make your schedule rigid because new commitments might arise unexpectedly, have flexibility in your time. End of part 2.
